I am an Indonesian living in Inner West Melbourne. I am a stay-at-home mum to two kids (three if you include my husband) and I started doodling when my son was just a couple weeks old because it dawned on me how boring and unproductive my everyday life was. Motherhood was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I felt so unqualified and out of depth.
I also felt like I had lost my sense of identity.
I was no longer a woman with a University qualification, years of work experience and achievement. I was just someone else’s mum.

I made doodles of my mundane but precious motherhood moments for fun and to keep my sanity intact (because apparently murdering your husband is kind of illegal).Then after I had my second child, the pandemic happened and the whole world was in lockdown.
My friend asked me to draw her friends’ children, who she wouldn’t have been able to visit for awhile. Then other orders followed.

Some orders were from families who haven’t seen each other due to the pandemic.
Others were family illustrations because they could never get a good family photo where everyone was looking at the camera at the same time.
As a mum, I totally get this. I was rarely in any photos. Most of my photos with my kids are selfies.

So it brings me absolute joy to be able to create an illustration that captures the precious moments of your family, regardless of whether or not there is an actual photo. I am also happy to draw your family based on a few different photos as a reference.
